Breast Augmentation | Breast Lift | Breast Reduction
Many women today would like to have bigger and fuller breasts, increase their breast size and get the body they’ve always wanted and dreamed of. Thanks to the many advances in modern medicine it is possible today. Some women may want to reduce the size of the breast, but both enlargement and reduction and also a breast lift are all designed to improve the self-image and confidence of women. The rate of breast plastic surgery procedures performed on women has increased dramatically over the years. It is estimated that about 350,000 women undergo breast cosmetic surgery procedures every year in the United States and more than $1 billion is spent annually on those procedures.
There are three types of breast plastic surgery procedures and they are breast augmentation, breast lift, and breast reduction. The most common type of breast plastic surgery procedure performed in the country and around the world is undoubtedly breast augmentation, also known as breast enhancement, breast enlargement or “boob job.”
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure in which silicone or saline breast implants are placed either behind the breast tissues or under the chest muscles. The purpose of the procedure is to add and increase the fullness, shape and size of the woman's breasts.
A Breast lift is performed for the purpose of raising or changing the shape of a woman’s breast for a perkier appearance and may also involve repositioning the areola and nipple. This type of breast surgery involves removal of skin and breast tissue and is sometimes performed in combination with breast augmentation. Commonly, women who have suffered the effects of gravity due to aging or after pregnancy effects seek this type of surgical procedure.
To achieve breasts that are proportional to your size a breast reduction may be called for to reduce the size of the breasts. A breast reduction, also called reduction mammaplasty, may also be performed to alleviate discomfort that may be caused by very large breasts. This surgery of the breasts involves removal of excess fat, glandular tissue and skin.
